Dropped my Iphone - Touch screen not functioning

Well here is what happened:
I was sitting in our recliner chair when I decided to lay down completely. Just when the chair was in horizontal position my Iphone slipped out of my pocket and bounced of the floor(wooden one). Checked the phone for any scratches or dents but found nothing. Half an hour later I was going to send a text when I found out the thing was not responding to the touch screen(AAAHH). Both the home and power button work fine but I cannot slide the phone to come of the screen saver or to power off. Tried to do a software restore in Itunes but no working touch screen.

Because I am in Australia and the iphone is not sold here yet, It is impossible to just walk into an apple store and ask for service( I would like to see the look on their faces if you ask them the question though). The ebay seller I bought it from basically says:

Hello,

Sorry but as clearly stated in our auction description. All sales were final.

Thank you.

This doesn’t help either.

Writing an email to apple seems the only thing that might solve my issue, other wise selling it on ebay. It is a fully functioning Iphone but it does not respond to any input from the touch screen.

I’m running out of options and I would like to know what people think is the best thing to do here?

Sorry to hear about your phone, must be very frustration having a phone that does not look brooken but you can’t use it.
Contact apple and they might give you a new phone.

came across this post and it worked for me: I had firmware 1.1.2. But I also read a pot to that that for firmware 1.1.4 it didn’t work.

This is the General.plist file that adds a touchscreen setting to your General Settings. It can alter the touchscreen sensors, with 0 being a high sensor (which is what I have set mine to now) and 16 being the lowest sensor (can’t move anything). Default setting is 3.5.
Upload the file to Applications/Preferences.app and you’re set!

    Best,
    I.
