Finally my iphone screen arrived this week and I could not wait to put it in an fix my iphone which had a broken touch panel, the lcd worked fine.

I already opened up my iphone so I thought it would be a quick job of replacing the screen. Wrong, it took me about 2 hours because the screen was glued to the plastic internal housing. I was scared to break any of the part that were not going to be replaced.

Here I have the back cover removed and the camera.

Removed the battery and mainboard from the iphone. The mainboard has 4 connections so be sure to remove these before you take it out.

This is never going to be an functioning Iphone again!

After a 2 hour battle I removed the iphone screen from the plastic housing.

Putting everything together took about 5% of the time it took to take it apart, no dramas there.
I hoped that it would work again cause otherwise I probably thrown the thing against the wall.
But, I turned it on and the touch screen worked great.
It took a reboot to get the top of the screen working too, don’t know why.
So a total of $150 Australian dollar was spend and close to day of my time but it was worth it. What a wicked little device.

How to open up your iphone

After my iphone screen was broken I researched How to open up your iphone.
You can fix the Iphone screen yourself by getting the right tools and take some time to do it. The screen can be quite hard to come by but it is a lot cheaper than getting it repaired with Apple.
I wanted to fix the iphone screen as soon as possible to start using my Iphone again.

Yesterday I got an iphone opener tool and tried to undo the back casing. The ipod opener tools that I had where quite soft so they broke, a hard plastic iphone opener tool opened it up though.

Well I got the phone open and the touch sensor or digitizer seems broken for some reason. Time to order a new screen and replace it and hope that it will fix the iphone.

Some images I took while I opened it up.

bottom cover removed Tape of the back cover Iphone Back cover removed The whole lot again

Dropped my Iphone - Touch screen not functioning

Well here is what happened:
I was sitting in our recliner chair when I decided to lay down completely. Just when the chair was in horizontal position my Iphone slipped out of my pocket and bounced of the floor(wooden one). Checked the phone for any scratches or dents but found nothing. Half an hour later I was going to send a text when I found out the thing was not responding to the touch screen(AAAHH). Both the home and power button work fine but I cannot slide the phone to come of the screen saver or to power off. Tried to do a software restore in Itunes but no working touch screen.

Because I am in Australia and the iphone is not sold here yet, It is impossible to just walk into an apple store and ask for service( I would like to see the look on their faces if you ask them the question though). The ebay seller I bought it from basically says:

Hello,

Sorry but as clearly stated in our auction description. All sales were final.

Thank you.

This doesn’t help either.

Writing an email to apple seems the only thing that might solve my issue, other wise selling it on ebay. It is a fully functioning Iphone but it does not respond to any input from the touch screen.

I’m running out of options and I would like to know what people think is the best thing to do here?
